The flagship PGDM programme (equivalent to MBA)  is a two-year full time programme in the field of management. This programme is considered extremely prestigious and is highly rated. GIBS is offering PGDM course that is recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

PGDM (equivalent to MBA) in general gives a high employability rate and boost career opportunities for students. This PGDM programme facilitates both in theory and in practice of different functional areas of management. In GIBS we give high motivation towards involvement in Research and Innovation activities with respect to management.

PGDM course (equivalent to MBA)  helps students study on the intricacies of management and sharpens a student’s mind to tackle the daily obstacles that are faced in the field of management. The PGDM course in GIBS is designed in such a way to build essential skills and capabilities within a student to hold the managerial positions in various companies and firms. PGDM programme is more of a practical approach. We make the students responsible towards the social and global issue that they get exposed to. The students undergoing this course acquires leadership, executive and managerial skills to handle any situations they face in professional life.

Till under-graduation students are more confined to their job roles and responsibilities, but PGDM course will help them in enhancing themselves and understand on the wider perspectives of industries and their insights. We in GIBS nurture and develop the students as world class business leaders.

As time changes there should be an enhancement in skills acquired and to support this, in GIBS we keep updating the curriculum on regular basis with respect to the expectations of modern industries with the help of subject matter experts from industry and academics. In GIBS we assist students to learn through case studies mode method to get them prepared for industry readiness. Apart from regular curriculum, the students are also equipped with soft skill, expert session, C2C session and many others to make the students job-ready.

Students enrolling themselves in PGDM course in GIBS are offered with general papers on management in the first year which continues with the summer internship project which will help them understand on job roles, responsibilities of various specializations and also help them bridge the gap between the theory and the reality in the industry. Students can choose a dual specialization during their second year course. Students study and acquire in-depth knowledge on those specializations. Students are also provided with certain value added courses (Certification programmes) which changes as per the industry requirements

Summer Internship – 6 Credits

The student will have to compulsorily attend the Summer Internship Project Report (SIPR) for the stipulated period in an organization to get awarded for the degree in which he/she is admitted in. The student should compulsorily undergo a minimum no. of weeks training as prescribed by the university/AICTE. Beyond the prescribed duration of weeks the candidate will not be allowed to continue his/her internship.

Objectives of Summer Internship

  • Summer Internship helps to bridge the gap between theory and practice
  • Students will gain insight about functioning of organization
  • Students will understand about specialization, functioning, strengths required to perform in various specialization, etc.
  • Internship will also assist students to analyze corporate level and functional level strategies of the company
  • Students also will get an opportunity to understand and analyze the problems faced by the company
  • Internship opportunities will improve the students skill of diagnostic investigation
  • Students will be exposed to evaluate the solutions that specific companies adopted
  • After all the learning phase, students can also provide recommendations

Placement Project – 3 Credits

Students will have to submit their placement project which will help them understand better on various specializations, Indian employment scenario, Job Market Trends, Career Prospects after PGDM in the specific domain, Skill sets that are required to become successful in the respective domain, Job titles and National Salary for those Job Titles and Hot Companies with Job offers in various domains as on the date etc... We believe this will give a clear picture on the market reality in present scenario and the student will identify his strengths and weaknesses to check which domain he will fit in.

Business Plan – 2 Credits

Students in GIBS are given many workshops and programmes on Entrepreneurship to make them understand on what are business and guide them to nurture their ideas and take them to next level. Students are motivated through the programmes that are given in the form of seminars, workshops, activities, start-up talks, sessions through video conference, setting up of stalls etc. GIBS main motive is to make students come out with better and innovative ideas for start ups or to the major problems that is existing in the current businesses etc. Students who come out with better ideas are appreciated and we give them special support, by giving them contacts to take this idea to next higher level and give continuous guidance until students required.

Live Projects – 2 Credits

Students are also required to participate in live projects during their 2-year programme. Students are required to visit companies for a period of 7 to 10 days to understand how an organization works in real-time. At the end of this activity, they are also required to create a project based on their experience. The live projects are designed to develop students’ employment abilities and provide industry experience and insights.
